Suspected Fentanyl Discovered in Gananoque

A drug overdose is Gananoque was averted over the weekend.

Police, Fire, and Paramedics attended a residence for a reported drug overdose.

Thanks to the quick thinking of another person at the home, the victim was treated with Naloxone, which is credited with reversing the effects of an overdose.

It is believed the overdose was caused by crystal meth or heroin that was laced with an opioid suspected to be fentanyl or carfentanil.

Police are reminding whose who are involved in the use of illicit street drugs, that they could contain various forms of fentanyl or carfentanil, an opioid 40 to 10,000 times stronger than morphine.
