Suspended Driver Faces Drug Charges

What began as a traffic stop resulted in an Amherstview man, 26, being arrested for drug possession.

Around 1:00 a.m. Thursday, Kingston Police pulled over an SUV on Division Street for swerving over the centre line.

Officers also discovered the man behind the wheel was a suspended driver and already before the courts for numerous charges.

Upon further inspection of the vehicle, officers say they located and seized two syringes loaded with a clear liquid, believed to be crystal meth and a necklace with a cylinder compartment containing the same suspected drug.

The man was currently on numerous conditions including not to possess alcohol or drugs, however two sets of bolt cutters, a flask of alcohol, a scale, and numerous small plastic baggies were also found inside the vehicle.

The unidentified man was charged with impaired driving by drugs, possession of a controlled substance, and breach of recognizance.
