Vandals Cause $70,000 Damage to New Shelter
Damage is estimated at $70,000, after vandals broke into a women's shelter under construction in the city's west end.
Copper piping was stolen and electrical wiring was cut throughout the entire building of Dawn House on Milford Drive, sometime between 2:00 p.m. Sunday and early Monday morning.
The shelter was scheduled to open in late June but this has pushed back the timeline by at least two weeks.
When the shelter does eventually open, it will be home to 16 women.
