Vehicle Stop Results in Multiple Charges
A high risk take down on the 401 has led to weapons and drug charges for two men.
Frontenac OPP were asked to look out for a white Jeep Patriot heading eastbound on the 401 near Kingston early Monday morning.
Toronto Police contacted the OPP, as a man was wanted in connection to a domestic dispute and believed to be headed east.
OPP were warned that the suspect was possibly armed with a handgun, so when the jeep was spotted near Joyceville Road, officers requested back up from Leeds County OPP and a high risk take down ensued.
Two men in the vehicle were arrested without incident, one of whom was identified as the suspect involved in the domestic dispute.
OPP say a search of the vehicle resulted in the location of the handgun and two kilograms of cocaine.
As a result, the men, 28 and 23, from Edmonton were charged with several weapons offences and possession and trafficking of a controlled substance.
The investigation is ongoing and no names will be released to secure the identity of the victim.
