Wanted Man Charged with Assaulting Police

A  man, 37, wanted on an outstanding warrant, was arrested Monday night after allegedly fighting with Kingston Police officer.

While the officer was on patrol around 9:30 p.m., he noticed a man walking on Pine Street who he believed was wanted, so he stopped to speak with him but was given a a false name.

During his arrest, it's alleged that the man grabbed the officer's vest, tried to push him backwards and ended up ripping the officers shirt during a fist fight.

Additional officers arrived on scene and the man of no fixed address was taken into custody.

He's been charged with obstructing police, assaulting police failing to abide by conditions of his recognizance.
