Weekly Traffic Notes: January 7-14

Nelson Street will be closed at Princess from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. January 8 and 9, to accommodate a concrete pump truck.

You can expect lane reductions to begin again this week on the Front Road Bridge and continue until the end of February for Utilities Kingston work.

The final phase of the 'Big Dig' on Princess Street is set to begin this week.

The city says Princess Street will be closed between Clergy and Barrie streets starting on Tuesday, January 9, and last until mid-May, as the street is reconstructed from building-front-to-building-front.

Construction will then move up Princess Street toward Division and Princess and is expected to re-open to traffic on July 1.

Barrie Street from south of Princess to Queen, and Division Street from Brock to Colborne will also be affected.

During this time Businesses will remain open.

Construction will also mean some changes to Kingston Transit.

Bus numbers 501, 2, 4 and 18 will detour off Princess between Division and Barrie.

Stops at Princess and Barrie, along with bus number 270 on Princess will be out of service.

The main doors at the INVISTA Centre are being replaced.

Between Monday and Wednesday, you're being asked to use the Hall B entrance instead, or use the south entrance if you need wheelchair access.

The sliding doors at the facility are being replaced with hinged doors to reduce the amount of cold air entering the building.
