A$AP Rocky Released From Jail And Returns To The U.S.
A$AP Rocky was released from jail this past weekend following a three-day trial. According to Rap-Up, a judge ruled that Rocky did not have to stay in Swedish custody while awaiting the verdict and sentence in his assault case stemming from a brawl in Stockholm. The other two defendants were released and allowed to leave as well. The verdict is expected on August 14th.
According to TMZ, the rapper returned to the U.S. just after midnight on Saturday (August 3rd). He was "downright gleeful" after his private jet arrive at LAX after a lengthy flight from Sweden. Reports claims that Rocky was ecstatic and smiling, as he took photos and hugged people. He also stayed in the private terminal parking lot for about 45 minutes, and talked and joked.
Rap-Up reports that all signs in Rocky's assault cast point to a not guilty verdict. Prosecutors in the assault case asked the judges keep Rocky because was a flight risk, but the judges disagreed.
Sources have also told TMZ that Rocky doesn't plan to return to Sweden. The site notes that while Rocky did not say that the assault case had anything to do with race, his teams thinks it was a factor. Rocky's legal team, however, decided it would be best for him to not make it a racial issue in fear of inflaming the judges.
Shortly after Rocky's release, he took to Instagram to thank his supporters. He said, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my fans, friends and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks. I cant begin to describe how grateful I am for all of you this has been a very difficult and humbling experience I want to thank the court for allowing me Bladi and Thoto to return to our family and friends thanks again for all of the love and support."
