  • Ringo Starr rang in his 79th birthday yesterday (July 7th) in front of the Capitol Records Tower in Los Angeles. Joining Ringo at the public bash were such notables as wife Barbara Bach, filmmakers David Lynch and Peter Jackson, drummer Jim Keltner, Peter Asher, T Bone Burnett and Don Was, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, and Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench, Nils Lofgren, Sheila E., Richard Lewis, and Ed Begley Jr., among others. • Paul McCartney posted a 44-second snippet of him at his recording studio recording the audio book version of his upcoming children's book, Hey Grandude! The book, which is due out in September via Random House Books for Young Readers, is illustrated by Kathryn Durst.

  • Is an Abbey Road box set currently being prepped??? It would seems so, with producer Giles Martin tweeting out a photo of a vintage EMI Studios 8-track mixing board with the Beatles quote "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." Industry whispers have an Abbey Road box set hitting the market in time for Christmas -- but so, far there's been no official announcement.
