CCR's Doug Clifford & Stu Cook Announce Final Tour

25 years after reforming, Creedence Clearwater Revival co-founders Doug "Cosmo" Clifford and Stu Cook are retiring from touring as Creedence Clearwater Revisited. The band has announced the initial dates to its "Final Revival" tour, which will kick off on June 13th in Del Mar, California at the San Diego County Fair.

The group -- which at one point featured the Cars' lead guitarist Elliot Easton -- fought co-founder John Fogerty for years regarding the use of the Creedence moniker. These days, they've found an uneasy peace with each other.

We asked bassist Stu Cook, why he and "Cosmo" are finally calling it a day: "All things come to an end, right? Here we are, both of us are approaching 74 this month, and just thought, y'know, 'been there, done that, seen that' -- we know how it feels, we know how it tastes -- we're gonna miss it.' We all have bigger families, y'know, grand-kids. Y'know, ourlife paths have led us into different interests over the past 50 some-odd years. So, this seemed a good time to wrap it up. Last year was Creedence's 50th. Me and Doug have been together hanging out 60 years, now."

Drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford told us that today, after the mania of the band's initial success has long died down, he feels more comfortable just playing music: "I think that we also appreciate being out here at this point in time, because (when) we were Number One in the world with record sales, we were 25-years-old. In the midst of having to have new material coming out and under all those pressures and the pressures that were inside the band. Now, we just come out and play for three generations. It's great -- less pressure."
