Chris Young Gets On-Campus Venue Named After Him At Alma Mater
A newly renovated live entertainment venue on the Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) campus in Murfreesboro, TN will be named the Chris Young Cafe to honor the singer's continued support of his alma mater. Yesterday (Tuesday, July 9th), MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee thanked Chris for lending his name for the venue and giving $50,000 for renovations during a press conference on Music Row.
The Chris Young Cafe will be a teaching and practice place for student performers and technicians during the day and a performance venue at night for music, radio broadcasts, comedy and other entertainment.
Chris said, "MTSU will always hold a special place in my heart. It helped me launch my music career and I’m glad for the opportunity to give back to the University."
Chris attended MTSU in 2005. He funding an annual scholarship for recording industry students beginning in 2016 and donated a selection of his touring audio equipment in 2012.
