Elvis Costello & The Imposters And Blondie Set For Joint Summer Tour

Elvis Costello & The Imposters will join forces with Blondie for a 13-date summer trek, according to Variety. The tour, dubbed "Blondie and the Beastly E.C.!," kicks off on July 20th in Bethel, New York at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, with the dates stretching through August 10th when the tour winds down at Seattle, Washington's Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery. Tickets go on sale starting Saturday, April 6th via LiveNation.com.

Debbie Harry says that with radio playing so hard to specific and narrow demographics, the Internet provides a wider range of musical choices for perspective fans that radio ever did: "Y'know, my audience is, y'know, the spectrum of ages. It's not just one little demographic, it's a lot of different demographics and I think people now, because of the Internet, they really get to choose. They're not really being force-fed. They can really select, they can shop, they can listen, they can. . . y'know, it's a much more open field."

While on the road, Elvis Costello often performs a mix of songs from his extensive catalogue. He told us how some of his classic tunes translate on to the live stage: "You find the essential core instruments that make the performance work in concert. This I discovered early on. The first five records that I recorded -- five or six really -- could all be performed and it would sound very close to the recording because that's who was playing on the record. The overdubs were minimal. The only missing aspect on the early Attractions records were the vocal harmonies that I did. Now with the Imposters, even just adding one voice singing the harmonic interval in the songs that were recorded originally by the Attractions makes them much brighter. The choruses speak in certain songs much better than they ever did before."
