Geoffrey Owens To Appear In 11 Episodes Of Tyler Perry's Show

Former Cosby Show star, Geoffrey Owens, was offered a gig from Tyler Perry after being shamed for working at Trader Joe's. Perry, who recently spoke with Good Morning America, said that he cast Owens for 11 episodes of his OWN show, The Haves and the Have Nots. Perry told GMA, "I called him up and the next week I had written him into 11 shows. But when he showed up the first day, I saw him in costume, I had 20,000 more ideas running in my head for him." Perry went on to say that he can relate to Owens' financial struggles, as he was once homeless and slept in his car. He added, "To get this place, just to have seen both sides of this, has been really incredible. And that’s why I feel like … I’m the guy for the underdog." Meanwhile, Owens opened up about being offered the role and said, "There is a little sense of mischief, I think, to Tyler as well as generosity because, you know, I had just said, ‘I don’t think I would really feel comfortable getting offered work, you know, because of the situation.' And darn. What does he do? He offers me work." He added, "Maybe this is the cause that’s actually going to bridge the divide in our country. Maybe this is it. This is the way that we come together. Owens plays the role of a senator and made his debut on The Haves and the Have Nots Tuesday night (October 2nd).
