Gwyneth Paltrow Reflects on Brad Pitt Split, Her 'Trailblazing' Ways

Who doesn’t love a juicy Gwyneth Paltrow feature? The loquacious Goop guru has been chatting with WSJ. Magazine for their December/January issue, and the 46-year-old reflected, as always, on several delightful subjects. BRAD PITT Paltrow opened up about her famous relationship with Brad Pitt, 54, whom she dated for two years 20 years ago. While the media was obsessed with the pair at the time, the level of scrutiny didn’t rival what’s out there today. "Cameron Diaz and I talk about this all the time," she tells the magazine. "We’re like, ‘Thank God in the early ’90s there were so few paparazzi. Thank God.’ We cry in gratitude that no one was following us around and seeing what we were doing." "I remember when Brad Pitt and I broke up, it was on the cover of the New York Post and there was no one outside my house," she adds. "That would never happen today." TRAILBLAZER Paltrow also opened up about her brand Goop, calling herself a "trailblazer" for wellness, and copping to the notoriety and controversy some of her more outré recommendations—including vaginal steaming and the use of jade eggs "down there"—seemed to court. "We’re trailblazers. We’re going to write about sh** that people haven’t heard of," says Paltrow. "It’s often women’s sexual health that is the most triggering." "I remember when I started doing yoga and people were like, ‘What is yoga? She’s a witch. She’s a freak,'" she says. Paltrow, in case you were wondering, takes full credit for the country’s current yoga craze. "Forgive me if this comes out wrong, but I went to do a yoga class in L.A. recently and the 22-year-old girl behind the counter was like, ‘Have you ever done yoga before?’" she remembers. "And literally I turned to my friend, and I was like, ‘You have this job because I’ve done yoga before.’" NO APOLOGIES In case you were confused, Paltrow is done apologizing for her success. "I’m here one fu**ing time," she explains. "I want an incredible life. I used to be in my trailer, smoking a cigarette and waiting for Ethan Hawke to open the door. Now look at me." NO IDEA One thing Paltrow isn’t confident about? Merging her household with new husband Brad Falchuk's. Together, they share four kids from previous relationships, and they are taking everything slowly. "We are still doing it in our own way," she says. "With teenage kids, you’ve got to tread lightly. It’s pretty intense, the teenage thing." "I’ve never been a stepmother before," she acknowledges. "I don’t know how to do it."
