FROZEN 2 TRAILER DROPS: The trailer for Frozen 2 has dropped. In it, Queen Elsa learns why she was born with such incredible powers, ones that threaten both her and her kingdom. Ciaran Hinds’ Grand Pabbie tells Elsa, "The past is not what it seems. You must find the truth. Go north across the enchanted lands and into the unknown. But be careful…" So she Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven set off on a dangerous journey. Frozen 2 drops on November 22.
AVA DUVERNAY TALKS RELUCTANCE TO TACKLE WHEN THEY SEE US: Ava DuVernay is being celebrated for her take for Netflix on the Central Park Five in When They See Us. She says her initial reluctance to become involved was based on market-perception: "For a long time I didn't want to be Social Justice Girl. After Middle of Nowhere, Selma and then 13th— I get every slavery script. After A Wrinkle in Time, all I wanted was to tell something true, and something that was real, and I went right back to the place I said I didn't want to go. I realized, 'You are Social Justice Girl — Social Justice Woman.' And that's OK."
FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA TO BE HONORED AT LUMIERE: France’s Lumiere Festival, which celebrates heritage cinema, will recognize Francis Ford Coppola with an honorary Lumiere Award. The fest, which takes place October 12-20 in Lyon, will also screen his Godfather trilogy. Previous recipients include Jane Fonda, Ken Loach and Clint Eastwood.
