Judge Set to Rule on Dismissing Harvey Weinstein Sex Case
Harvey Weinstein is due in court Thursday to find out if a judge will allow some or all of his case to be thrown out. A court spokesman told the AP that Judge James Burke will deliver a partial ruling on defense motions tomorrow. The disgraced Oscar-winner has been accused of sexual misconduct, including rape, by more than 80 women. He denies wrongdoing. Weinstein is facing a six-count indictment addressing allegations from three of the 80 women. (Many of his accusers will never see their cases in court due to statute of limitation laws). His legal team, led by Benjamin Brafman, has said that prosecutors failed to inform the grand jury of evidence showing Weinstein’s friendly relationship with one of the three accusers. Brafman is asking the judge to dismiss one assault count, claiming prosecutors could not pinpoint the date it allegedly occurred. GAWKING AT NICOLE KIDMAN Meanwhile, Weinstein is still making time for his favorite A-list stars. TMZ captured him making a pit stop at a Westport, Connecticut gas station over the weekend. While there, he reportedly spent time checking out Nicole Kidman’s Marie Claire magazine cover. He was reportedly less enthusiastic about Jennifer Aniston and Gwen Stefani’s latest covers.
