Millions Attend Marshmello 'Fortnite' Concert

This past weekend millions of Fortnite players logged in to the game to watch the EDM star Marshmello perform a 10-minute concert.

Players gathered at the virtual Pleasant Park in Fortnite to watch the performance and could dance along to the music with other players in the game. More than 10 million players logged in to the game on Saturday to watch the virtual concert.

On the day of the concert, Fortnite released a special mode that prevented players from shooting each other while they were in the concert area.

After the show, several players told Marshmello that his performance was their first concert. Dozens of players and parents shared videos of themselves dancing and having fun during the short set and Marshmello returned for an encore run of the performance later in the day. An extended version of the mix was uploaded to Apple Music, with a 29-minute running time.

Marshmello also shared his thoughts on the event, writing: "What makes me happiest about today is that so many people got to experience their first concert ever. All the videos I keep seeing of people laughing and smiling throughout the set are amazing. Man I’m still so pumped. If you thought that concert was lit, try coming to a real show. The Mellogang goes hardddddd!"
