BRITNEY SPEARS’ 10TH STUDIO ALBUM ON HOLD: Following Britney Spears’ announcement that she’s postponing her Las Vegas residency because her father Jamie recently suffered a health crisis, Variety reports that the singer’s next album is also being put on hold. Britney had been working with hitmaker Justin Tranter, who will be producing her latest album. He said, "I’m beyond excited to be involved," but would not confirm when the album was set to be released. "Everything is on hold right now until her dad Jamie is better. But once he is, she will resume working on the album with Justin. Right now, she’s taking some time off to deal with these family issues," Britney’s manager said. Britney announced she would be taking time off after revealing that her father had been suffering from a sudden medical illness. Britney last released an album in 2016 titled Glory.

‘BABY SHARK’ SWIMS ITS WAY ONTO BILLBOARD HOT 100 CHART: "Baby Shark," a wildly popular children’s song, has taken a bite out of the Billboard Hot 100. The song entered the Billboard chart at No. 32 for the week of January 12th, Billboard said. "‘Baby Shark,’ whose origins date back decades, is a participatory children’s song/nursery rhyme in which singers act out each verse with their hands and arms, from the youngest member of a family to the parents and grandparents," Billboard said. Pinkfong, a South Korea-based educational brand, released its version of the song in 2016 and a subsequent video that led to the track becoming a meme. "Baby Shark" was streamed 20.8 million times for the week ending January 3rd, with 73% of those streams coming from video, Billboard said.
