Quickies: Imagine Dragons, Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran

IMAGINE DRAGONS’ ‘THUNDER’ VIDEO HITS ONE BILLION VIEWS: The video for Imagine Dragons’s hit single "Thunder," originally released in May 2017, now has over one billion views on YouTube. "Well look what you went and done," the band tweeted Friday morning after hitting the milestone. "Lots of love to you all." The black-and-white "Thunder" video, which received an MTV VMA nomination for Best Cinematography, was filmed in Dubai and follows a trio of alien-like contortionists. The song is a message for the people who bullied frontman Dan Reynolds when he was growing up with lines like "Kids were laughing in my classes/while I was scheming for the masses." "Thunder" is the first Imagine Dragons video to hit one billion views. The clip for "Radioactive" is close – at press time, it had nearly 980 million views. "Thunder" is included on Imagine Dragons’s 2017 smash album Evolve, which also features the singles "Believer" and "Whatever It Takes." TAYLOR SWIFT’S ‘REPUTATION’ TOUR SETS RECORD FOR HIGHEST-GROSSING U.S. TOUR: Taylor Swift’s recently wrapped Reputation stadium tour has now broken the record for the highest-grossing U.S. tour, according to Billboard. The publication says the tour has grossed more than any other U.S. trek since it began tracking touring data in 1990. Taylor’s tour brought in just over $266 million domestically with sales of just over 2.07 million tickets. That breaks the record set by The Rolling Stones in 2007, when they raked in $245 million from their A Bigger Bang tour. The Stones took 70 shows to hit that dollar amount; Taylor did it in just 38. Taylor also broke her own record for highest-grossing domestic tour by a woman: She’d previously set it in 2015 with her 1989 World Tour, which earned $181.5 million. The most successful run of shows during the Reputation tour was the three concerts Taylor headlined at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in July. Those three dates alone brought in $22 million.
