R. Kelly Facing New Sex Charges In Minnesota
R. Kelly is facing more sex charges -- this time in Minnesota. According to TMZ, prosecutors have charged the 52-year-old singer with two counts of engaging in prostitution with an individual under 18 years old and offering to hire a person under 18 for sexual purposes.
During a press conference yesterday (August 5th), Hennepin County State Attorney Mike Freeman said that the alleged incident occured back in 2001 when the alleged victim asked Kelly for an autograph. The victim has claimed that the singer paid her $200 to get naked and engaged in sexual acts at his Minneapolis hotel.
Freeman said that there was no sexual intercourse between Kelly and the teenage girl but he claims there was "dancing and sexual contact." He admitted the case will be difficult to prosecute, given that the evidence is almost 20 years old.
Gloria Allred is representing the accuser. Meanwhile, R. Kelly's attorney Steve Greenberg responded to the new charges, tweeting, "Re: New charges @RKelly give me a break. This is beyond absurd."
