Remy Ma Surrenders In Assault Case

Remy Ma turned herself in on Wednesday (May 1st) in connection with an alleged attack on her Love & Hip Hop co-star, Brittney Taylor. According to TMZ, Remy turned herself in yesterday at 12:30 p.m., and was charged with third-degree assault. Remy’s bail was set at $1,500 and she was released hours after turning herself in. Her attorney, Dawn Florio, claims that all of the accusations Taylor made are false. Taylor allegedly claimed that the attack happened at 9:30 p.m., and Florio says there is video proof that Remy was home at that time. Florio has also argued that it is suspicious that Taylor hired a civil attorney immediately after the attack.

The judge in the case ordered a protective order, so Remy is not to have any contact with Taylor. She will also have an 8 p.m. curfew.

Taylor claims that Remy punched her in the right eye while backstage during the "Pretty Lou Benefit Concert" at Irving Plaza in New York City on April 16th. She suffered bruising and swelling and was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital. Taylor later posted a photo of her black eye on Instagram.

Taylor’s attorney, Sanford Rubenstein, told ABC 13, "This arrest demonstrates how serious this matter is. It is real life and not reality TV entertainment. The victim, Brittney Taylor, has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities."

Rap-Up reports that Taylor is also planning to file a civil lawsuit against Remy. Additionally, she has requested that the police preserve all evidence of the alleged assault, including surveillance footage.
