Report: DJ Khaled To File Lawsuit Against Billboard
DJ Khaled is reportedly planning to file a "monster lawsuit" against Billboard. According to Page Six, Khaled is allegedly accusing the company of unfairly disqualifying more than 100,000 units in sales of his album, Father of Asahd, which resulted in him not receiving the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
As previously reported, Khaled was "furious" when his album snagged the No. 2 spot after Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR album. He was allegedly told that about 100,000 downloads what were sold through a bundle deal with his energy drink would count towards his Billboard numbers. However, Billboard apparently backtracked and disqualified Khaled’s entire sales from the promotion, saying that there were "strange anomalies in the data."
According to Rap-Up, Khaled’s lawyers have sent a letter to Silvio Pietroluongo, SVP of charts and data development at Billboard. A source also said, "When Khaled’s team tried to appeal, Billboard refused to budge."
