Report: Rihanna Launching Fashion Brand With LVMH
Rihanna will reportedly be partnering with the world’s largest luxury group, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, to launch her own luxury house. Sources told WWD that Rich has been in secret discussions with LVMH for the project. This would mark the first fashion brand that CEO Bernard Arnault has launched from scratch since Christian Lacroix in 1987.
LVMH reportedly began putting together in Paris about six months ago, including key employees from Louis Vuitton and Celine, to work on the launch alongside Rih and some of her key associates.
In other news, Rihanna’s father has responded to the lawsuit the singer filed against him. It was reported earlier this week that Rih was suing her father, Ronald Fenty, for capitalizing off of her family name by establishing Fenty Entertainment and attempting to book gigs for her to perform. Fenty has since responded to the lawsuit telling OK! magazine, "She is? Suing me? Why would she sue me? It’s my name! She’s never going to sue me- I’ll have to fight it! Thing is she doesn’t have the time to deal with all this stuff herself, so it is someone else that will be doing it. She’s working hard on her album at the moment. I don’t think she’d sue me."
He continued, "This is all news to me. They sent something to Fenty Entertainment, it was a letter from Roc Nation I think, but my lawyer said it was OK. They said they preferred me not to use the name, but they didn’t say I couldn’t."
