'Stuttering John' Melendez Opens Up About Prank-Calling Trump, Hires Stormy Daniels' Lawyer

"Stuttering John" Melendez is opening up about his claim that he got President Trump on the phone last week on Air Force One. He told TMZ that his ability to be patched through proves how easy it is to dupe his team.

Melendez, a former contributor to the Howard Stern Show, claims he posed as Senator Bob Menendez and that Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner patched him through himself.

On Twitter, Melendez claimed the prank call elicited a visit from the Secret Service. "Instead of wasting time on this, Mr. Trump should focus on the numerous other things that are of a greater priority," Avenatti said on Twitter. "Let’s start with reuniting over 2,000 children with their parents immediately."

Melendez has also hired Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing adult-film star Stormy Daniels. (ICYMI, Daniels hired Avenatti amid uproar over a decade-old affair she had with the president, and the $130K she was paid for her silence in the run-up to the election).

Avenatti told the Associated Press he took the case because "it demonstrates the complete incompetence of the president and many of those around him."
