The Allman Betts Band Scraps 31 North American Dates
The Allman Betts Band has been forced to scrap all of its August and September dates -- a total of 31 shows -- while guitarist Devon Allman recuperates from an emergency appendectomy he underwent on July 30th. Although the band had hoped after nixing the remaining dates on its European tour they would be able to get in gear for the opening slot of John Fogerty's 50th anniversary trek, according to the band's announcement, Allman is seemingly going under the knife once again. The band is on the road in support of its debut album, Down To The River, released earlier this year.
A message to fans was posted on the band's official Facebook page which reads:
The Allman Betts Band are postponing 31 North American concerts in August and September. Devon Allman has been advised by doctors that he cannot perform during this time due to an upcoming surgery and the necessary recovery time. Devon is expected to make a complete recovery and will be back onstage in October.
Tickets and VIP Meet & Greet packages that have already been purchased will be valid and accepted for the rescheduled dates, which have not yet been announced. For future updates visit www.allmanbettsband.com - Team ABB
We recently caught up with Duane Betts, who explained how it was only natural for him and Devon Allman to join forces musically: "I mean, we're family, y'know? Devon and I have never lived in the same city. This is by far, the most time we've spent together, the last two years. But, it's like, when you do see people that are in your family, you may not see 'em that often -- but it's family, y'know? And we knew that we had a lot of respect for each other, and we would have a lot of fun together, but we, kind of, took it one step at a time as far as putting too much on the table. Y'know, we just wanted to go out and have some good shows, have a good time playing music."
The Allman Betts Band's next scheduled show is now set for October 18th in Natchez, Mississippi at the Great Mississippi River Balloon Festival.
