Thomas Markle Says He Never Asked Duchess Daughter for Cash
After a short period of radio silence from Thomas Markle post-royal wedding (and post the posed paparazzi photo scandal that prevented him from attending said wedding), he tells TMZ that despite rumors to the contrary, he did not ask Meghan Markle for money as she prepared to marry Prince Harry.
He said the rumors are "just plain bull***t" and that he enjoys living frugally on his retirement fund. He added that if he did need money, he’s sure Meghan would help him.
- Speaking of money, Harry and Meghan are reportedly returning $9.3 million worth of wedding gifts. The couple asked for donations to charities in lieu of gifts, but people and companies sent along gifts anyway, reportedly in a bid for expensive but priceless PR.
- Also, per royal protocol, the Express reports: "The fundamental principle governing the acceptance of gifts by Members of The Royal Family is that no gifts, including hospitality or services, should be accepted which would, or might appear to, place the Member of The Royal Family under any obligation to the donor."
- And it seems that Meghan and Harry are settling comfortably into married life. Per Us Weekly, the pair signed a two-year lease on a weekend house called Westfield Large in the rural Cotswolds region of England (about an hour-and-a-half from London by car).
- "Meghan loves the Cotswolds and fell in love with the estate the first time she went," an unnamed source told Us Weekly. "They recently had security cameras installed around the perimeter."
