ALR Concerns

The MLA for Vernon Monashee says changes to the Agricultural Land Commission will hurt farming families.
Liberal Eric Foster says moves to prohibit additional residences like detached suites and manufactured homes on farmland will make it difficult for families to stay together.   Foster says he supports some regulations, but says the N-D-P government's new policies are out of step with farm activities in the North Okanagan.
The legislation limits new house sizes to 500 square metres, except through application to the Agriculture Land Commission in cases where it would support farming.
