Downtown Security Decision

Vernon city hall

Members of Vernon city council are expected to vote on  overnight security at their council meeting Monday.  Council has already debated the issue of security from May till September and will vote today on what direction to go.  Staff have come up with other options and are recommending hiring Two  By-law Officers instead of private security.

Council is expected to increase in the 2020 Operating Budget by $135,600.

Vernon Council will also hear a presentation from a Forest Fire Ecologist providing information on the effect of a wildfire in a watershed and a wildland interface fire within the City of Vernon.
