Great Turn Out
More than $20,000 was raised on Emergency Services Day at Silver Star Mountain Resort on Saturday.
Silver Star says they were thrilled to hand over a $20,120 cheque to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
"It was such an amazing day at Silver Star," said Chantelle Deacon, media relations manager, SilverStar. "The Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation means so much to us and we're so happy we were able to support them in such a big way."
"Thank you to everyone who came out for Emergency Services Day and for everyone's generosity and donations."
The cash was raised through many donations and a percentage of every alpine day pass sold on Saturday went towards the cause as well.
Thousands of skiers, boarders and spectators came out to watch the important procedures of our local emergency services and response teams.
Deacon says, "Not only was ESD such a huge success but it was also a very special day for Dan and Michaela Chapman, who took home the old Summit Chair. The Chapman's had the highest bid of the day, taking home the old chair for $3,600. The Summit Chair was removed last April to make room for SilverStar's brand new gondola. The cash from the Chair went to the SilverStar Fire Department."
