Abandoned campfire cause of bush fire today

Kelowna fire crews doused a small bush fire on the east side of Duck Lake this morning north of Kelowna International Aiport.

Platoon Captain Scott Clarke says it appears to have started from an abandoned campfire.

He says 11 firefighters arrived shortly after 5:00 am to find a blaze about 50-feet by 50-feet in size.

No buldings were impacted.

Clarke says the fire department would like to remind everyone campfires are not allowed within Kelowna City limits.
