Alleged Kamloops hostage-taking ends in Kelowna

An alleged kidnapping that began in Kamloops ended on the streets of Kelowna late Thursday afternoon.

RCMP Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey says numerous uniformed and plain clothes RCMP officers of the Kelowna RCMP and Kamloops RCMP, and tactically trained members of the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team responded to an apartment building in the 1100 block of Bernard Avenue, near Gordon Drive, and quickly shutdown the immediate area.

O'Donaghey says officers eventually arrested 4 men and 2 women - and impounded a vehicle.

No other details have been released about the suspects - or the age, sex or condition of the hostage.

Police are still on the scene and plan to search an apartment unit.

O'Donaghey says no more information is being released at time.
