Big Trucks Taking Shortcuts Through Neighbourhoods Now a No-No in West Kelowna
West Kelowna has enacted amendments to its traffic bylaw regulating the movement of trucks. They are restricted to using Highway 97 when passing through the city, no more taking shortcuts through neighbourhoods like Boucherie, Gellatly and Shannon Lake.
Mayor Doug Findlater says this change has been a long time coming. The city has evidence of trucks taking the Glenrosa interchange on a regular basis to shortcut down Gellatly and Boucherie. He says that's the kind of thing the bylaw amendment is meant to stop.
Findlater says the only time a truck should be seen in a neighbourhood is if the operator has a delivery or is heading to a worksite.
