Close Call for Emergency Responders

Emergency responders, already at the scene of a single vehicle collision in Lake Country, had a close call early Sunday morning.

Crews were waiting for a tow truck, when a second chain-reaction collision happened in the southbound lanes of Highway 97.

A pickup truck broadsided a fire truck with its emergency lights activated, causing severe damage, before it hit 2 more vehicles.

A snowmobile was also launched almost 30 feet from the back of the truck into the northbound lanes.

A 23-year-old man from the Shuswap has been issued several charges.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor but he may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
