Community Clean-Up Month

Saturday, April 7th is the official kick off to Community Clean Up Month in the Central Okanagan.

The Uptown Rutland Business Association is hosting the event at the Willow Park Shopping Center.  Executive Director, Laurel D’ Andrea says this is the 3rd year they’ve been involved. “We’re inviting people to ‘spring’ into action. Whether you come for 20 minutes or 2 hours, by yourself, with your entire family or as a group, we welcome you to participate! We’ll be focusing on the areas around Rutland’s Town Centre (off Hwy 33) as well as the residential streets that are our neighbors.”

Waste Reduction Facilitator Rae Stewart with the Regional District says Community Clean Up has been part of our community for over 20 years, with thousands of residents having helped out. If you’d like to plan your own community clean-up, “It’s simple to get involved.  If you contact the Regional District, we help supply the gloves and the gear and bags that you’ll need.  We’ll even arrange to pick up the trash that you’ve collected when you’re all done.”
