Dog Ambassadors Return

The Regional District Dog Ambassadors are back for a fifth season in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country and Peachland.

The Regional District's Communications Officer, Bruce Smith says the Ambassadors are summer students, decked out in highly visible, “Technicolored type T-shirts, really brightly colored, pink and fluorescent orange and they’ve got ‘Dog Ambassadors’ written on the back and the front.”

From June through August Smith says they’ll be visiting local beaches and parks with goodies, “looking for dog owners who are doing the responsible things: leashing, keeping their dogs under control/off the beaches and areas where they shouldn’t be, and they also gently suggest to people who may not understand what the rules and regulations are regarding dogs.”

Smith points out that the Dog Ambassadors are NOT bylaw officers.  They're more of a resource for dog owners to ask about local rules.  The fine for not having a dog license in the RDCO is $300.
