Former Kamloops Sherriff gets house arrest

A former Kamloops Sherriff has been sentenced to four months of house arrest for breach of trust by a police officer.

Kevin Johnston, who is in his late forties, was caught in a Creep Hunter sting in September of 2016, after the vigilante group pretended to be an underage girl in a decoy conversation.

He was initially charged with three counts of communicating with a minor for a sexual purpose, and one count of invitation to sexual touching, but those charges were later dropped and replaced with the single count of breach of trust.

As part of his sentence, Johnston will also serve an additional 8 months on a strict curfew.
