Foundry Kelowna temporarily closed
No one was hurt in a small fire at Foundry Kelowna Tuesday night. The youth mental health centre will be temporarily closed for approximately
four weeks but staff are working to find alternate locations for services.
The cause of the fire was determined to be a stove element, accidentally left on, that ignited a toaster. Cleaners discovered the fire at about 8pm and immediately called
the fire department who were able to quickly put the fire out. The fire damaged a small area near the stove however smoke damage has affected the entire centre.
Partner organizations with staff who were working out of Foundry Kelowna have been temporarily relocated.
Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Kelowna staff who were working at the centre are now at the organization’s Sutherland location and working with the wider
community to establish alternate sites for Foundry Kelowna services.
Individuals who have existing appointments will be contacted and given information on their appointment location. All calls to Foundry Kelowna are being routed through
CMHA, for anyone who has a question about their upcoming appointment they can call 236 420 2803.
