Go Fish Returns

The ‘Go Fish’ program returns this Sunday.

The Grand Opening takes place from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm at the netted fishing area in Shannon Lake Regional Park in West Kelowna.  The celebration will see hot dogs and beverages available for a donation, and the Regional District of Central Okanagan is asking that people bring their own water container to reduce waste.

The youth fishery program also starts for the season on May 6th at the Hall Road pond in Mission Creek Regional Park in Kelowna.

“It’s been running for well over 10 years and it’s one of the most popular programs that our regional parks run.  It brings out thousands of youngsters every year,” said RDCO Communications Officer, Bruce Smith.  “It’s a great family opportunity to celebrate something as a family, have an activity and maybe the youngsters 15 and under can catch a rainbow trout.”

The program runs each weekend until Father’s Day Sunday, June 17th, between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.  Each Saturday volunteers will be on site while RDCO Parks Services staff and volunteers will be on hand each Sunday.  Youth will have a chance to catch one rainbow trout each day without a fishing license.  A limited number of rods, reels and bait will be available each weekend for kids to use.
