Heavy police presence on Bernard Ave

UPDATE - 3:20 PM

RCMP Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey has confirmed that the RCMP Street Enforcement Unit, as well as the RCMP South East District Emergency Response Team, performed a search warrant at a condo unit on Bernard Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

"Kelowna RCMP are continuing to support the Abbotsford Police Department in an ongoing robbery investigation," says O'Donaghey. "We'd like to affirm that there is no risk to the public, and we'll continue to secure the scene until the warrant is fully executed."

The RCMP have not been able to confirm whether or not any arrests have been made.

There was a heavy police presence at a condo unit on Bernard Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Residents in the area reported several police officers going in and out of unit number 5 at 1283 Bernard Avenue. Around 1:30, only one police vehicle remained at the scene as officers combed through the residence.

One resident described the people living there as "suspicious," while another said it wasn't the first time that police had stopped by the unit in recent months.

Officers at the scene declined to comment, but did say that there was no risk to the public at this time. No word yet on if there were any arrests at the scene.
