A Kelowna man is in custody following a lengthy stand-off with RCMP on Monday (June 18).

Just before 9:30 pm, a man was arrested at a home on Bryden Road where he had been holed up for several hours.

It all started Monday afternoon on Arab Road, where a property owner was allegedly stabbed when he confronted a man.

The suspect then car-jacked a vehicle and fled the area.

The police chase ended when the stolen vehicle plowed into a fire hydrant on Bryden Road near Highway 33 - and that's when the suspect ran off and barricaded himself inside an empty home on Bryden.

The female driver and the stabbing victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A 40-year-old man faces a number of charges.
