Kelowna's Urban Distilleries + Winery moves to the Westside
Urban Distilleries & Winery is the oldest and largest craft whiskey distillery in British Columbia and it has a new home.
They've closed their downtown Kelowna location on Bay Street near Ellis and have reopened in the former Sears store on Old Okanagan Highway in West Kelowna.
Spokesman Steve Francis says the staff has been working around the clock to move stock, furniture, kettles and the still itself.
Francis says, "We are excited to be a part of the Westside Wine Trail that already includes a cidery and a brewery."
The new location is triple the size of the old one, roughly 17,000 square feet.
The new location is already open for business. They have a temporary tasting bar and all of their stock is there for sale. In the coming months, Francis says, the equipment will be installed, plus, a permanenet tasting area and a lounge will be constructed.
