Kelowna is considered the top place to start and grow a business in 2016.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business ranked Canada's most Entrepreneurial cities and Kelowna came in first.
It's the 9th year the organization has ranked the nation's cities. Last year, Kelowna came in second.
Chief Economic Ted Mallet says they looked at 3 main indicators: public policy, business optimism, and present.
He says present includes the number of businesses per capita.
“Kelowna has a thriving small business community. Large numbers of people who are self-employed and that‘s generally suggesting that it’s a good strong, resilient economy”.
Mallett says business optimism in the city is one of the highest found among the cities.
“It’s got among the top scores that we’ve noted across the region,” he said “Most British Columbia communities, businesses, have pretty strong optimism”
Two other BC cities made the top 10 on the list- Victoria came in 7th while Abbotsford- Mission was 10th.
