Kelowna will have its own Fringe Festival
Kelowna will have its own Fringe Festival this fall.
Located in the city's cultural district, the four day event will feature local, national and international artists September 19th to the 22nd.
"You could have someone singing or dancing. It is more common that it is generally more theatre type of acts, so their are performers and often original work that the people performing them have written themselves. You could technically have full nudity on stage", says Dustyn Baulkham, the Executive Director of the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan,.
"The beauty of Fringe is the acts are unjudged. It is a lottery based system so when people apply, their name is literally pulled out of a hat, so you don't know what you are getting in terms of performers for the actual festival".
Baulkham hopes to model this one after popular festivals in Edmonton and Victoria.
Tickets per show - just 13 bucks.
A short lived Fringe Festival was held in Kelowna in the 90's.
