Low fire activity over the weekend
Three new wildfires sparked up in the Kamloops Fire Centre over the weekend - but cooler temperatures this week are expected to cut the fire danger risk.
Fire Information Officer Taylor MacDonald, with the BC Wildfire Service, says the current danger rating is ranging between moderate and high - but is expected to decrease with cooler temperatures in the forecast later this week.
MacDonald says one of the new fires started east of Armstrong, one is east of Kamloops, and the other south of Penticton.
She says one was caused by lightning - the other two were human-caused.
MacDonald says there are five fires currently burning in the Kamloops Fire Centre - 4 are under control - and 1 is being held, meaning it's not growing.
