Man leads RCMP on chase through Lake Country

Lake Country RCMP have a man in custody accused in a series of crimes.

Just before 7:00 Sunday morning, emergency crews responded to a report of an arson at a home on Robinson Road.

Police say the male suspect was chased from the property by the homeowner – and fire crews successfully doused the blaze.

RCMP Corporal Jesse O’Donaghey  says the man was then seen fleeing into an orchard, where he allegedly stole a pickup truck, which was later crashed on Lake Hill Road in the Lakes subdivision – and once again, he took off on foot.

O’Donaghey says after getting a number of reports of a man hopping fences in the East Ridge Drive area – police managed to corral the suspect a couple of hours later.

The unidentified man remains in custody facing charges.

Anyone in the area who may have been victimized in anyway, whether they may have been threatened by the male, or sustained any property damages and has not yet spoken to police is urged to contact the Lake Country RCMP Detachment at 250-766-2288.
