New App for Central Okanagan dog owners

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has created a new App to make it easier for dog owners to renew their 2017 licenses.

Spokesperson Bruce Smith says the "My Dog Matters" App is believed to be the first developed for local governments in Canada.

He says dog owners, who've provided the RDCO with their email address, will receive information on how to download the free App..

"It also contains their "My Dog Matters" rewards program card that they can show at more than 50 participating businesses in the Central Okanagan for special discounts and services as something back for licensing their dog which is required in the Central Okanagan," says Smith.

He says February 28th is the last day to receive the $20 discount on license renewals and new licenses.

Starting March 1st, dog owners will pay the regular fees of $40 for dogs that are spayed and neutered - and $80 if not.

About 19,000 dog owners in the Central Okanagan have licensed their pet - and are now able to access the free App.
