One dead, two critically injured in house explosion

West Kelowna RCMP have confirmed that one person died after an explosion at a home that caught fire on Elliot Road last (Wed.) night.

Just before 9:45, police were called out to the home near Glencoe Road along with West Kelowna firefighters to extinguish the fire. 

The cause has not yet been confirmed, though the RCMP is involved in the investigation, which is expected to last at the scene of the fire over the weekend.

Four people were inside the home at the time, and all were taken to hospital.

One man died in hospital, and is being identified through posts on social media as David Hunt from West Kelowna.

Meanwhile, a Go Fund Me account has been set up to support Chiara Boehlke and her boyfriend Aleck Villeneuve, who are still in critical condition.

The fourth person was released with minor injuries.

Any witnesses who haven't spoken with police are asked to contact the detachment.
