RCMP investigate accident potentially caused by overdose

Kelowna RCMP are investigating an accident that may have been the result of a driver overdosing.

It happened yesterday afternoon just after 12:30, when crews responded to a crash at Springfield and Barlee Road.

Emergency crews found that a Honda SUV crossed the centre line and hit a Dodge pickup truck head-on.

The driver of the SUV was a man in his 20's who was found unconscious behind the wheel.

He had to be revived by paramedics, who sent him to hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Police say they're still investigating whether the driver overdosed behind the wheel, or whether he had some other type of medical emergency.
