Remains found at plane crash site

The Revelstoke RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are trying to determine if remains found at a plane crash site near Revelstoke are human, and if they belong to either of the plane's two passengers.

The pilot, 28-year-old Dominic Neron, and his girlfriend, 31-year-old Ashley Bougeault, went missing last November after their small plane, which was flying from Penticton to Edmonton, suddenly went down.

A nine-day search was unsuccessful and went cold, until earlier this week, when an ambulance service helicopter spotted the crash site 60 kilometers east of Revelstoke.

Crews arrived at the site on Tuesday, and determined that the aircraft had been seriously damaged, and based on that damage - had hit the ground hard upon impact.

While it hasn't been confirmed who or what the remains belong to, Neron's sister has taken to social media to thank emergency crews for their search efforts, and say that "the last 10 months were the hardest in the families' lives."
