Shipping container tunnel to protect pedestrians on Bernard Avenue

It's an interesting solution to a public safety issue. The old sushi restaurant Ichicban on Bernard downtown between the Royal Anne Hotel and the HSBC Bank is being torn down.

Crews have now placed two of those big steel shipping containers on the sidewalk out front. The doors have been removed and it's going to be a tunnel to protect pedestrians.

A third shipping container has been placed on top closest to the Royal Anne, for what reason, we don't yet know.

Part of Bernard Avenue was blocked in the morning while the shipping containers were unloaded off a semi.
