Stolen boat and trailer recovered in Kelowna traffic stop

Kelowna RCMP say they've tracked down a stolen boat and trailer from a man in Kelowna.

Thursday night, police stopped a pickup truck driving erratically up Glenmore Drive, which also had a 21-foot Searay Sport boat attached on a trailer.

Police initially arrested the man when they became suspicious that he was drunk, and took him back to the station to get breath samples.

In that time, they also found out the boat and trailer had been reported missing from a resort on Mara Lake near Sicamous, back in May.

Once at the station, the 30-year-old man blew twice the legal blood alcohol limit, and was kept in jail ahead of his court date, and is facing several potential charges.

The RCMP says it highlights the importance of other drivers phoning in tips on potentially impaired drivers.
